The Story of Group 40...
HCPT Group 40 is a local family group based in the Merseyside area of England.
The group was founded in 1968 in the Manchester Region by Jim Lalley. Jim was taking a few children with disabilities to Lourdes and so became involved with HCPT. Jim was helped by Joe Shovelton. Jim was Group Leader until the end of the 70's when he passed over control to Les Flukes, a senior charge nurse in Walton Hospital, who brought Group 40 into the Merseyside region.
Les Flukes ran the group until the early 1980's when the group was then taken over by Anne Black. Anne successfully ran Group 40 untill she retired in 1992.
The group was led by Alma Wainwright and Angela Barker. Angela retired from the group in 2003 and Alma has recently retired in 2006.
The new Group Leader is Mark Montgomery.

Our children can be of any religion, race, gender or ethnicity.
